about

Hot on the heels of the Bar-Steward's Big 7" vinyl record (Tarnlife), The Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican's 'Bestest Bits' 12" record was also completely crowd-funded by fans via a massive Facebook campaign which resulted in raising close to 180% of the money need to make the album.

It was originally released as a limited edition (300 copies only) 180 gram red-coloured vinyl, complete with lyric & photo inserts, download code and exclusive hand-signed and individually numbered art prints by Barnsley pop-artist Terry Brookes. The download has now finally been made available now that all of the original albums have sold out!

As a band we cannot thank the people who pledged on this project enough, and this is why the download code that was enclosed with the record was a very special expanded version of the album... it also features a two and a half hour live show from Harrogate Blues Bar (where we also recorded the live albums 'A Neet Art Of Tarn' and 'A Crazy, Crazy Neet At t'Blues'), all of the exclusive cover-versions and the children's audiobook that Scott recorded for pledgers, an Alternative Barnsley podcast featuring an interview with Scott Doonican and a few extra bonus tracks too.

Cheers for all your support, folks

A message from Scott Doonican...
This project, and its predecessor, the BIG 7" Pledge Project, has been a real labour of love. This thing has consumed me for a HUGE amount of 2013, between the approximately 140 shows that I did too! The band this year have gone from strength-to-strength thanks to the power of our phenomenal fanbase and their staggering support. We have now released two vinyl records, wrote our our musical with a little help from our friends, played a rooftop show, sold out theatres, wowed crowds at countless festivals, supported some absolute musical legends and to be completely honest, I still am baffled at how the hell we got this far! It is your continued support that make The Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican what they are, and the main reason that I feel committed to trying to be the hardest working front-man in comedy music... I hope this year I succeeded!
You do realise that, just when you thought it was safe, the next project is already formulating in my little brain, and that the 'Bestest Bits Too' 12" is almost definitely on the cards for next Christmas!?
On behalf of myself, Andy & Alan, I extend the warmest of thank you's to every single person who believed in us. I genuinely love every one of you for all your help and support.
Remember, we are here for a good time, not a long time.
Peace, love & understanding
