about

Way back in the days when Alan Doonican was not a full-time Bar-Steward due to his job as a full-time Bar-Steward, this show features the original line-up of Scott and Danny Doonican, recorded live (warts 'n' all, as nature intended, with no edits made to the original tapes at all - the only thing missing was our cover of Living On A Prayer which was lost as we changed tapes over). It was captured sometime between 11.30pm on Fri 8th May and 2.00a.m on Sat 9th May 2009 at The Holmfirth Picturedrome. It was released on a limited run of 20 copies and was a double album.

We got booked to play at the Holmfirth Festival of Folk as part of the post-show shindig after Eliza Carthy's performance on the Picturedrome main stage.

As we were setting-up in the 'balcony bar' we sneaked into Eliza's dressing room because we didn't want to get changed in the toilets. We left a message for Eliza and her band to come and join the shenannigans upstairs after they'd finished on stage. Unfortunately we were caught with our trousers down by Eliza herself.
Luckily she didn't mind too much and came to catch some of the set, sparking off a friendship that has seen us support her on several occasions since that night.

On a funnier note, Danny got propositioned by members of The Men They Could Not Hang for drugs, to whom he pointed out that he was the father of two small children and they were asking the wrong bloke. They went on ask him "What about yer mate? Has he got any?", to which Danny smiled as he explained his partner-in-crime, at the time, was an infant teacher!

It was a great night/morning, where we played a set that would make Bruce Springsteen blush. A huge thanks goes out to the night-owl crowd who stopped to the bitter end, yelling for more, even after we were totally spent! Cheers for making it so memorable.
