about

2018 has been a weird old year. The band have celebrated our 12th year, played some of our biggest shows to date, successfully crowdfunded and released a 10-year retrospective of our bestest bits on CD, cassette and vinyl, (as well as a DVD of our 900th show), sold out our entire December tour months ahead of it, and a load of other things that really shouldn't happen to a comedy band.

So, with all of this in mind, I probably shouldn't have got to the 1st October and had what can only be described as a 'start of Autumn slump'... it's what happens to a lot of us musicians post-festival season, when all the mayhem of Summer has subsided. This is when I begin to get restless, as I love to stay busy. Time off for a holiday is never an option.

So I woke up this morning and decided to record a solo studio album. In the space of under six hours I created the artwork, and performed and recorded live, produced, mixed and uploaded ten songs, with just me and an acoustic guitar, and no overdubs (well, okay, no overdubs for the majority of the album - you'll see what I mean towards the end)...

It's far from 'polished'. It's recorded in my music room, not Abbey Road. But it cheered me up to do this, knowing that they might make somebody smile. It's also almost the exact same length as the Ramones' eponymous debut, if you like useless music trivia.

The first nine of these tracks are hand-picked from each one of our nine studio albums in chronological order, and then a tenth which was written with the next Doonicans album in mind, got to venture out into the world early.

This album is dedicated to Amanda, and to Alan and Bjorn for being the best team on the planet to be in a band with.

Enjoy the journey
