Suckerpunch 02:43
Lyrics by Ginger Wildheart Originally found as a B-Side on The Wildheart's album 'Earth Vs. The Wildhearts' Can't believe that I got so down, I dropped my guard again, hit me, hit me Palpitations and goo-goo eyes, The transformation is sad and sickly She pulled out a Tyson from out of the blue And met with a sickening crunch She got me, woah, she got me She got me, with a suckerpunch Senses reeling from too much shit I hit the floor again, panic, panic Calm and cold as a witch's tit, Sometimes I think that that girl's mechanic With all of the shit that flew out of my lips, There’s no use in asking much She got me, woah, she got me She got me with a sucker, sucker, sucker Woah, you fucker! Why I see her face in a million stars, I'm wondering? Thought I had good taste 'til I found I'd none at all Nearly did appear as the asshole of the year And then she strikes And now I'm back The guy I'd been, before the idiot set in Can't believe that I got so down, It probably happens on a daily basis Many millions of messed up minds Compete to win in the loser races Peeling my mind like she's one of a kind, Or maybe just out to lunch She got me, woah, she got me She got me, with a suckerpunch

Lyrics by Ginger Wildheart Originally found as a B-Side on The Wildheart's Suckerpunch single Here sitting in my room With the Replacements and Hüsker Dü Like a rebel without a clue And the Beatles and the Stones Get to hang out with Ramones And the Pistols shunning fame As they sing the old refrain As they always will again Like 29 times the pain I see Sparks And the mood is Big and Black There’s a full Sheer Heart Attack But the Cheapest Trick of all Is when I hear that London Call I need something and I need it fast I need Jason Scorching past I need to feel they feel the same ’cause when they almost know my name It's like 29 times the pain, times the pain 29 times the pain, times the pain 29 times the pain, times the pain, times the pain But it all ends up the same Kiss my Heart Like the Damned did from the start Come on make me feel like me SLF or BOC Give me old, give me new, Let me know you feel it too ’cause for all you boys and girls It's a brave new world I'm up, how can I get down When I've got all my friends around? And I can be there once again I'm gonna miss Kurt Cobain It's like 29 times the pain, times the pain 29 times the pain, times the pain 29 times the pain, times the pain Times the pain (And all the gaps in all the gain) Times the pain (Tomorrow always cries my name) Times the pain (And makes it all worthwhile again)

about

A major musical hero of mine since the age of 14 was Ginger Wildheart. A true genius British songwriter, and the lead vocalist and principle songwriter with Brit-rockers The Wildhearts. His multiple band ventures and solo discography have been the collective soundtrack to my teenage and adult life so far, and I cannot thank him enough for how uplifting I find the music he makes.

In a bit of down-time, I decided to record this pair of cover-versions to put out as a downloadable EP.

As Ginger and so many, many other people across the country, suffer with their mental health, and at a time when our country's mental health services are seeing their worst financial cuts ever, any profits donated will go to the mental charity MIND.

Dig deep peeps.

Disclaimer:
As this was released at a difficult time for the original composer, I haven't sought permission to record or release these songs, the copyright of which, belongs to Ginger Wildheart. If Ginger or anybody in his management wishes them to be removed, please just get in touch and they will be taken straight down from the internet without any question.
