This album was recorded at a sold-out Lantern Theatre as part of a cabaret night featuring lots of crazy sketches and variety acts. We were delighted to get chance to perform this short set of songs to a great audience who seemed to completely get what The Bar-Steward Sons were all about. It was great to hear the crowd response and lots of laughter, making us want to do it all again (so we did - this reissue features eight more tracks recorded at the Lantern in 2010 - tracks 1-8!)

Reviewing the show that night was Sister Wendy Beckett:
" What I've witnessed tonight is a modern-day work of art. Contrary to popular belief, these two young artists aren't for sale; money, noisy as it is, doesn't talk that loud.
There's a priceless history between these four walls. None of us are getting any younger. When, in a generation or so, a radio-active, cigar-smoking child, picnicking on Saturn, asks you what the Doonican affair was all about, don't try to explain all about the fabulous hair, exquisite knit-wear and the screams! Just play the child a few tracks from any BS/VD album and he'll probably understand what it was all about. The kids of AD 2050 will draw from the music much the same sense of well being and warmth as we do today.
For the magic of the Bar-Steward Sons is, I suspect, timeless and ageless. It has broken all frontiers and barriers. It has cut through differences of race, age and class. It is adored by the world. Oh yes, and what they played tonight was pretty bloody good, too! "
